Best in Split A/C category

Which suits best for my room?
For a room of 10*10 (approx 100 to 120 SFT size) or less -- 1 Ton will be sufficient
And for a room of size 110 to 180 SFT, 1.5 ton is required.
Another important point over here is; if you are looking for just bed-room use, go for 3-start. That would be enough. 5-star is recommended for ATM like stores where A/C has to be ON continually.

Best Brands based on their quality in Split A/C products?
1st Quality (Premium): Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Daikin
2nd quality: Carrier, O-General, Voltas, BlueStar, Lloyd
3rd grade: LG, Samsung, Whirlpool, Onida (These vendors will just assemble parts from different companies and put their brand label and marketing. So, not the best when it comes to quality A/C products from these companies)

*Again, this is not to promote or degrade any single brand. BTW, I dont have shares in any of those companies :-)

What was my decision finally?
After evaluating all the parameters like (i) Power Saving options, (ii) Best Service in Hyd especially, (iii) Top Quality in quick cooling, (iv) Maintenance, (v) Features being offered in each brand/model,...etc, we finally went for Hitachi 1.5 Ton - Kaze model. It has got all the features like Personalization/MyMode, Auto, Cool, Super Cool, Humidity, AreaCodeTechnology, Asynchronous & Parallel air flow, Silent mode, Quick Cooling...etc. And we're loving it.

Price & Dealer Contact details?
We got it ~32,500 (Including installation, Copper Wire, & Compressor Stand) from BSR Engineering Pvt.Ltd, RajBhavanRoad. In fact, Hitachi's ASM - Area Sales Manager have suggested this dealer for best price & prompt service. You may contact Ajay on his Mobile#9848031877 for more details. If required, you can quote that you have been referred by Uday (Kondapur).

Best SmartPhone in India ?

Considering all the available models (as on May-2012) and based on the little research that went on, I can suggest following phones in "SmartPhone" segment...

   < INR.10,000            : Galaxy Y Duos, Motorola FireXT
Between 10k-20k      : Motorola DefyPlus, Galaxy AcePlus
   Between 20k-30k      : Galaxy S2, Motorola Atrix2
   >INR.30,000             : iPhone 4 [or] iPhone 4S

BTW, I have taken Atrix2 as this 'M'atrix-2 has got superb features (like 8MP Camera with 1080P HD, ~3000/- worth EA games for FREE, Great apps like 'TED' on big 4.3 fast touch-screen, DualCore processor with 1GB RAM) and the best part is, I got it @ 21,900/- in Hyderabad.

* This is purely based on my inquiry, online reviews and most importantly the feedback I received from 50+ real-time users.
* I am not promoting any brand here!

Experiences on my Interior/Carpentry work

Hi Folks,

We have recently moved into own house (...err... le'me correct it, partially owned house, LICHFL has good stake in it), so I thought of sharing my experience with you related to interior work.

Through one of my friends, I got to know about one Bihari Carpenter, Goutham. Before decided on him, I have visited few of his sites and we liked his work. Moreover few friends had told me to look for a Rajasthani/Bihari carpenter, they are supposed good in this business.

My Bihari C' did a rough estimate of plywood (and other items that are needed in the initial phase) and asked us to buy about 80% of  the goods. You can buy from any place of your choice, I bought it directly from GreenPly AreaSalesManager-Suresh (9000991123). Suresh gave me the best deal which no retail merchant can offer. And the best part is, he arranged the transport directly to my site either.

My place allowed over night stay for interior workers, so the pace was bit faster as it saves travel time and they are able to things till late evening.

Mine is a 2 BHK house, we had interior work in 2 Bed rooms and 2 separate units in Hall. In addition to this, we also got two queen size beds by carpenter. Teak wood required for beds was purchased from a Timber Depot in Miyapur. My carpenter took ~30days to complete his work. But looking at others around who have done their interior, I felt this was a good turnaround time.

For Kitchen, we bought Modular Kitchen from Reliance Living (after doing lot of research on ModularKitchens at LussoItalia, HomeCenter, HomeTown, Evok...etc). Sales Manager (Rajender - 8008404215) at Reliance Living was so patient with us and spent almost 2 days to finalize one design that would best fit our kitchen measurements.

Now coming to selection of other components, decolams and veneers are most confusing things to choose. They decide how the interior is going to look. There is a lot of difference between what you see in the catalogs and how it comes up finally. I spent some good time on deciding these before finalizing Greenlam & Merino laminates

Same is true for other things, like handles, legs etc, but they can be replaced easily where as decolams, veneers will be tough/expensive to replace. Veneers are costly and the polish cost is high too, but it does give a good finish to your interior.

When you opt for a Carpenter to do your interiors, you may not get a good finish as you would get if you opt for a interior guy who would get some stuff  done in factory. But the good part is  that you will know what material is going in. You also will be able to change things as and when you want. Those who are married would know ladies will not like something for sure and        would ask to get it altered.

A good carpenter can get you a really good finish. Make sure you get a good polish guy, that matters a lot. Veneers can look terrible if not polished properly.

Finishing part, i.e picking up decolam, veneer, legs, handles, glasses is really painful and important, so do some research around that beforehand. I picked ebco & Hettich hardware and bought it from Goshamahal (near Nampally). It was suggested by my carpenter.

Coming to carpenter, me and my friend had good experience with Goutham Carpenter. Only problem is...you have to suggest best design for him to proceed. He has a good pool of people who work for him, most of them Rajasthani and experienced workers. They work on all days except Amavasya or New moon day.

Best LCD/LED TV (in 32'' category)

10 days ago, I posted a question to my friends...
"If anyone owns 32" LCD/LED TV from Sony or Samsung, could you please share your good/bad experience(s) ? Any suggestions on best brand/model in this 32" LCD category would be of great help"

A big thanks to all my mates who have patiently replied to my question. By considering your suggestions, we bought Samsung 32EH4000. Following are the consolidated suggestions I received. Hope this helps someone who is doing similar research...

"Don't go for Sony. It's just brand they sell. Go for LG or Samsung. And if it's plasma; go for Panasonic" -- V.Balla

"Definitely Samsung because i have a 40" Sony LED and samsung definitely outstands sony in terms of picture and price. any version of it, go for Samsung....sony sells just the brand value most" -- Sai

"Go for Samsung. Even though Sony is good they are too costly for the futures they give... Samsung is too aggressive even in tv market these days... For sharper picture, choose LED not LCD. One more thing I heard is; Sony doesn't play all the formats" -- Bava

“We bought a 40" Sony LCD TV in Nov 2010 for around 55k.Within 15 days, there was a red line seen on the screen, and since we were in warranty we called up the service. They have come and reviewed and said the screen has to be replaced and they did it free for us (in warranty service) -- if we are out of warranty - it would have costed upto 16k for us :)
Recently the TV was moved along with our inlaws when they moved out of hyderabad, but since then no issues till now..
The service guys were saying Sony LCD screens have lots of issues those days and its better we go for Panasonic  / Samsung” – Sunita

“I had bought Sony Bravia 32" LED TV EX520 model last year in October and I find it very good.
While buying, I have also compared picture quality of Sony with Samsung and Sony's clarity is incomparable. Sony is reliable too in terms of service. So overall, I would prefer Sony” – Neha

“I have SonyBravia , I don't like one thing only about this brand is, it does not play .mkv format videos...and most of the HD quality videos are in .mkv format. I am not sure about Samsung....but I think Samsung plays it” – B.K

“In LCD segment : Samsung is best .Its same for LED also if its CRT model. You can go for Sony.  I am having Samsung 32'' LCD TV ( Series 530 Model) for past 4.5 yrs. No issues so far ( Once Motherboard got burned cause of high voltage)” – Krishna

"Both are equally good but i personally feel sony is expensive and samsung is value for money. I have samsung 32 inch 4 series tv" – Bhaskar

"I would definitely go for Samsung as it runs all the format files for movies. As far as Sony is concerned it definitely doesn’t play all the formats. Sony is a not value for money" – PK

"I too had the same experience. Sony does not play all formats. Even for the supported formats like .mkv there are issues playing certain encoded files.. Also, it does not have any control over the audio or subtitle sync. Samsung can sync/adjust subtitles which is really important feature IMHO" – Srikanth

"Recently i had posted the same kind of question, and i had got various feedbacks. According to user reviews of our Oraclites and also non-Oraclites, Sony Bravia is the best LCD/LED. But  if you want to go for second option, it would be Samsung. Sony Bravia is too expensive when compared to other LCD/LED.
After all the feedbacks, i recently got a Samsung 32" LED" –A.Sharma

“Picture Quality - Sony is better. Pure white actually looks white. In Samsung, it is displayed a light yellow/golden color. So Sony is better to watch English movies/channels. But for our national channels, Samsung picture quality is more suitable. In Sony, our Indian movies/serials heavy sets look pale. This is my personal opinion.
Sound Quality - I didn't find any difference between Sony and Samsung. But Sony is good when it comes to dedicated music players section. If this is important, one should consider LG as well. They produce better outputs.
Build and looks - No comments. Individual preference.
Formats Supported - Samsung is best of all. No other brand supports so many formats. But still there are many occasions when I could not play a movie. :( . But YES, I can play 8-9 out of 10 movies I download)
Sony's big claim is that all their software is home grown and Samsung's is not. But should we be worried about it? All we are worried is about the value for money” – K.Krishna
