10 days ago, I posted a question to my friends...
“We bought a 40" Sony LCD TV in Nov 2010 for around 55k.Within 15 days, there was a red line seen on the screen, and since we were in warranty we called up the service. They have come and reviewed and said the screen has to be replaced and they did it free for us (in warranty service) -- if we are out of warranty - it would have costed upto 16k for us :)
"If anyone owns 32" LCD/LED TV from Sony or Samsung, could you please share your good/bad experience(s) ? Any suggestions on best brand/model in this 32" LCD category would be of great help"
A big thanks to all my mates who have patiently replied to my question. By considering your suggestions, we bought Samsung 32EH4000. Following are the consolidated suggestions I received. Hope this helps someone who is doing similar research...
"Don't go for Sony. It's just brand they sell. Go for LG or Samsung. And if it's plasma; go for Panasonic" -- V.Balla
"Definitely Samsung because i have a 40" Sony LED and samsung definitely outstands sony in terms of picture and price. any version of it, go for Samsung....sony sells just the brand value most" -- Sai
"Go for Samsung. Even though Sony is good they are too costly for the futures they give... Samsung is too aggressive even in tv market these days... For sharper picture, choose LED not LCD. One more thing I heard is; Sony doesn't play all the formats" -- Bava
Recently the TV was moved along with our inlaws when they moved out of hyderabad, but since then no issues till now..
The service guys were saying Sony LCD screens have lots of issues those days and its better we go for Panasonic / Samsung” – Sunita
“I had bought Sony
Bravia 32" LED TV EX520 model last year in October and I find it very
good.
While buying, I
have also compared picture quality of Sony with Samsung and Sony's clarity is
incomparable. Sony is reliable too in terms of service. So overall, I would
prefer Sony” – Neha
“I have SonyBravia , I don't like one thing only about
this brand is, it does not play .mkv format videos...and most of the HD quality
videos are in .mkv format. I am not sure about Samsung....but I think Samsung
plays it” – B.K
“In LCD segment : Samsung is best .Its same for LED also
if its CRT model. You can go for Sony. I
am having Samsung 32'' LCD TV ( Series 530 Model) for past 4.5 yrs. No issues
so far ( Once Motherboard got burned cause of high voltage)” – Krishna
"Both are equally good but i personally feel sony is expensive
and samsung is value for money. I have samsung 32 inch 4 series tv" – Bhaskar
"I would definitely go for Samsung as it runs all the
format files for movies. As far as Sony is concerned it definitely doesn’t play
all the formats. Sony is a not value for money" – PK
"I too had the same experience. Sony does not play all
formats. Even for the supported formats like .mkv there are issues playing
certain encoded files.. Also, it does not have any control over the audio or
subtitle sync. Samsung can sync/adjust subtitles which is really important
feature IMHO" – Srikanth
"Recently i had posted the same kind of question, and i
had got various feedbacks. According to user reviews of our Oraclites and also
non-Oraclites, Sony Bravia is the best LCD/LED. But if you want to go for second option, it would
be Samsung. Sony Bravia is too expensive when compared to other LCD/LED.
After all the feedbacks, i recently got a Samsung
32" LED" –A.Sharma
“Picture Quality - Sony is better. Pure white actually
looks white. In Samsung, it is displayed a light yellow/golden color. So Sony
is better to watch English movies/channels. But for our national channels,
Samsung picture quality is more suitable. In Sony, our Indian movies/serials
heavy sets look pale. This is my personal opinion.
Sound Quality - I didn't find any difference between Sony
and Samsung. But Sony is good when it comes to dedicated music players section.
If this is important, one should consider LG as well. They produce better
outputs.
Build and looks - No comments. Individual preference.
Formats Supported - Samsung is best of all. No other
brand supports so many formats. But still there are many occasions when I could
not play a movie. :( . But YES, I can play 8-9 out of 10 movies I download)
Sony's big claim is that all their software is home grown
and Samsung's is not. But should we be worried about it? All we are worried is
about the value for money” – K.Krishna
